Jon Onabowu brings precision, power, and a deep-rooted sense of groove to every stage he steps on. A drummer fluent in both jazz and fusion, his playing is razor-sharp, rhythmically adventurous, and always anchored in feel.
Cutting his teeth in church bands and school ensembles, Jon’s early grounding in gospel and funk evolved into a serious study of jazz at the Academy of Contemporary Music. His career has since taken in London jazz festivals, sold-out headline shows, and international touring — with highlights including collaborations with Matt Terry and Venna. His style fuses jazz with Afrobeat, broken beat, and electronic textures, reflecting a broad musical language that feels both current and timeless.
Jon has recently performed at Alfie’s Soho and The Piano Bar Soho, bringing his hard-hitting grooves and detailed improvisation to the Soho Live Music Club stage. As he continues to develop his solo project and push rhythmic boundaries, his arrival on our stage feels less like an introduction and more like the start of something.
