A Century of Grassroots discovery

1000 Shows Celebrating 100 years of jazz & laying the foundations
for the next Century

Join us in a year-long celebration honouring the last 100 years of grassroots music and looking forward to the next century. Across 1000 curated shows, this event highlights the innovation and talent that have defined jazz, culminating in the 10th year of the reimagined Soho Jazz Festival.

Why 1925 Matters

In 1925, jazz reached a pivotal moment, shaping a new era of innovation and artistry. Louis Armstrong’s Hot Five recordings revolutionised improvisation, and The Great Gatsby captured the glamour and cultural spirit of the Jazz Age. Duke Ellington redefined jazz with orchestral elegance and soulful spontaneity, and even Ella Fitzgerald, one of jazz’s greatest voices, was born that year. As 1925 gave rise to legends, we hope Soho stages in 2025 will spark the birth of the next great stars.

Celebatory Weeks & Dates

Held at two of London’s most iconic jazz venues—Alfie’s Soho and The Piano Bar Soho—this celebration promises celebratory weeks that explore jazz’s history and its future. From Gatsby-inspired glamour in partnership with London Fashion Week to cutting-edge innovations during Tech Week, and a cinematic journey during the Jazz in Film Series, the programme is as diverse as jazz itself.
